The Legend of Chilli Night

Chilli night began in 2004 when Stephen, Tim and Bryce got together for a christmas get together at a house tim was housesitting. Always a competitive bunch, Bryce asked tim to go downstairs and grab some chilis for the lamb sausage stew he was making. It was a beautiful big birds-eye chilli tree. Tim had very little experience with chilli and had no idea how many chilis was too much so came back with a handful.

Bryce saw this as a challenge, so chopped them all in the dish. what proceeded was what amounted to an appendage measuring competition to see who could stomach what was at the time the hottest meal any of us had ever had.

And with that, chilli night was born. now every year in the week before christmas (or as close as life will allow), the three friends come together to cook the best chilli dishes they can manage, drink some good wine (usually far too much) and catch up on the year.

In 2010 not all three were in town at the same time so "interim chilli night" was born. If it is planned that all three will not be in Brisbane at Christmas a mid-year event is thus held. As it turns out, it's pretty rare that we actually are away, but two chilli nights have to be better than one or the risk of none right?
